Taking Apart & Restyling Has Benefits

Since we all started living more at home we have started to learn crafts and really take to making do and mending.  I have learned my way around a basic sewing machine and recently decided to improve the look of two pairs of summer slacks.  They had been taken up in length rather clumsily but over recent months of sewing and other things like bottle bags, oven gloves and peg bags etc, I now know how best to take something apart and put back in a better shape.  Some of this skill has been learned through simply making a hash of a project – but not being one to give up, I always go back, have another look, take it apart and then make a much better job of the restyled article.  This has happeed for almost everything I’ve made.  Of course the old adage of measure twice, cut once would still stand but it’s usually in the seaming or finishing where I decide that I could have done better.
