Ahh the absolute unadulterated joy to be had from a really good, uninterrupted afternoon of sewing or knitting.  As a family we all have hobbies and have done from childhood.  Parents who have a sideline to pop out to attend to after dinner in the evening will often find their youngsters getting inquisitive and taking up their own interests.  There’s a distinctly less fraught atmosphere in a house where folk are happily engaged in making, designing, fixing, mending things  – especially during the enforced lockdowns that are shattering our norms.  Some of the online crafting and habidashery outlets are going great guns to help keep the nation supplied with all we need to feed our habit.  Th uptake in sewing supplies, machines, overlockers and the like is astounding and a good thing.   We are making a stab at changing our curtains and soft furnishings in two of the bedrooms.  Upgrading our sewing machine was a boost to the project.
