Taxing Question: Gifts -v- Gift Cards

One of the hardest things to achieve in the world is buying something for a teenage grandchild and getting it absolutely right at the first attempt.  This is one of the challenges sent down from above that apparently gets harder every year.  That is of course because the teenagers have often given a lot throughout their childhood.    Parents today do seem to feel the need to indulge their children and supply whatever the latest ‘must have’ is.  This is partly because there is genuinely more money sloshing about in some parts of the community, but also with so much advertising and hype emitted from TVs, radio adverts, glossy magazines and of course, on the internet and our mobile phones, children don’t seem to have an off button.   The way to get it right every time is to get Vouchers or Gift Cards.  The recipient will have to actually go and choose the gift, but they have the funds and can choose exactly what they want.  Well Done Grandma!
