With so many very large shops struggling to keep their heads above water, it is not surprising that there is a surge in online shopping and browsing interest has inreased tenfold. This is of course a pity in that the traditional high street setting has been dwindling for some time and now the out of town retail estates are finding it difficult to keep up as well. The stores that are managing to stay afloat best are the ones that own their own properties without having that massive burden of rental going to a third party Of course, there is the small matter of buying the land and property to begin with, but those that invested decades ago are sitting on some hefty nest eggs. The rest are hoping that increased sales online will still show well on the company sales totals, whichever route they arrive. Sadly the human cost cannot be calcluated that easily.
